Description

A watercolor painting of a cardinal flower, lactuca sanguinea, and a lobelia puberula. The written notation by the lactuca sanguinea indicates that a description of the plant is on page 283 of Asa Gray's Manual of Botany, was found at the site of the house of Governor Prince in Eastham, MA, and was painted on July 1, 1890. The lobelia puberula was sent from Mohonk, NY and was painted in September 1891.
