Wild Basahn Apple and Cactus Opuntia

Description

A watercolor painting of a wild basahn apple and a cactus opuntia. The written notation by the wild basahn apple indicates that it was found at Old Indian Monument in Stockbridge, NY and that a description of the plant is on page 187 of Asa Gray's Manual of Botany. The cactus opuntia, commonly known as the prickly pear, was found in Orleans and painted on August 4, 1890.
